What's the Ordo ad Fratres Faciendum?

It's the 'Order of Brother Making' and is a Latin rite of the Catholic Church. In recent years it was not widely known, but the evidence that it existed was recognised before the original text came to light. Like the adelphopoiesis rite of the eastern church, it was not 'discovered', but few people seem to have known of its existence.

Before the ceremony the couple swore brotherhood publicly. This took place outside the Church. If this seems odd, remember that the vows for marriage were taken outside the Church. There is evidence elsewhere on this site to suggest that the vows were later taken inside the Church, and if so they may have been incorporated into the ceremony.
